Maynard Firefighter Graduates Massachusetts Firefighting Academy

MAYNARD — Chief Angela Lawless is pleased to share that Maynard Firefighter/EMT Tim Landry graduated from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy (MFA) on Friday, Aug. 30. 

Firefighter/EMT Landry was one of 34 graduates from 17 departments in the Career Recruit Firefighting Training Program Class #323.

Firefighter/EMT Landry has worked at Maynard Fire for a year, and is originally from Maynard. His father was a Captain at Maynard Fire Department before becoming the Fire Chief in Stow, where he retired.

 

During the 50-day training program, participants receive classroom training in all basic firefighter skills. They practice first under non-fire conditions and then during controlled fire conditions. The graduates are now certified at the level of Firefighter I and II and in hazardous material operation.

 

The other 32 graduates of Class #323 represent the fire departments from Andover, Attleboro, Belmont, Devens, Dudley, Fitchburg, Methuen, Norfolk, North Andover, Northborough, Orleans, Revere, Salem, Shrewsbury, Tewksbury, and Westborough.

 

“I would like to wish Tim the best of luck in this next chapter of his career and congratulate him on graduating from the academy,” said Chief Lawless. “Throughout this past year, Tim continued to step into his role with confidence and professionalism and we look forward to seeing what he accomplishes next.”

Maynard Fire Department marks 2024 International Overdose Awareness Day

Aug. 31, is International Overdose Awareness Day.

On this day we remember loved ones who have died from overdose and encourage support and recovery efforts for those impacted by substance use and overdose.

Save a life. An estimated 107,543 people died in 2023 from a drug overdose according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which marks the third straight year that deaths have surpassed 100,000.

Maynard Fire Department Shares Back to School Safety Tips

A new school year means kids will be out walking and biking to school, buses will be out on the roadways, and drivers should be more cautious when driving through our community.

Parents, please talk to your children before the new school year starts about getting safely to and from school, including the importance of looking up from their phones. Also, we ask drivers to please slow down and be attentive.

Maynard Firefighter Graduates Massachusetts Firefighting Academy

MAYNARD — Chief Angela Lawless is pleased to share that Maynard Firefighter/EMT Nick Cutone graduated from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy (MFA) on Friday, July 26. 

Firefighter/EMT Cutone was one of 33 graduates from 23 departments in the Career Recruit Firefighting Training Program Class #322.

“On behalf of the Maynard Fire Department, I would like to congratulate Nick on his successful completion of the Firefighting Academy,” said Chief Lawless. “I look forward to having Nick grow his career with the Department.”

Maynard Police Department Charges Woman with Arson

MAYNARD —Police Chief Michael Noble and Fire Chief Angela Lawless report that a Maynard woman was arrested and charged with one count of arson following a diligent investigation.

ANABELLE DENTINO, AGE 26, of MAYNARD, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Arson of Dwelling House (One Count)
  • Causing Injury to Firefighter (One Count)

On June 5, at about 11:55 p.m., Maynard Police and Fire responded again to 1 Little Road for a report of a structure fire. The home was unoccupied. One firefighter sustained minor injuries during the response. Mutual aid was provided by the Stow, Acton, Sudbury, and Hudson Police Departments.

Maynard Police and Fire, assisted by regional mutual investigators and the State Fire Marshal’s Office, soon identified DENTINO as a suspect. A warrant was sought, and she was arrested on Tuesday, July 16 without incident.

The investigation into other incidents that occurred at this address remains active and ongoing.

DENTINO was arraigned at Concord District Court on Wednesday and is being held without bail, pending a dangerousness hearing on Aug. 5.

Maynard Police and Fire would like to thank District 14 Arson investigators and the State Police Fire & Explosion Investigation Unit assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s office for their assistance and expertise in this investigation.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
