MAYNARD — Chief Angela Lawless reports that the Maynard Fire Department extinguished a two-alarm fire early this morning.
On Friday, March 8, at around 7 a.m. Maynard Fire received a Box Alarm Activation for Box 6118, located at the commercial building at 8 Mill and Main St.
Upon arrival, crews observed heavy smoke and sprinkler activation on the third floor of the building, and a working fire was declared. Due to the fire’s location, a second alarm was stuck, bringing additional mutual aid to the scene.
The fire was contained to the room of origin on the third floor by a single sprinkler head.
There were no reported injuries.
Mutual aid was provided by the Acton, Sudbury, and Concord Fire Departments. Station coverage was provided by the Hudson and Stow Fire Departments.
“I would like to thank our mutual aid partners for their quick and efficient response to one of our larger commercial mill buildings in town,” said Chief Lawless. “I would also like to make note of the importance of a functional sprinkler system. Without the sprinkler system in place, this fire could have spread rapidly and caused significantly more damage.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Maynard Fire Department and District 14 Fire Investigation Team.
